Human Resources Administrator- Knoxville, TN           

SmartBank has an amazing opportunity for a Human Resources Administrator to work at our Corporate Offices in Bearden (5401 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919). This position will be held accountable for human resources related functions including: HRIS system maintenance and administration, benefit billing, onboarding, I-9 compliance, timekeeping, unemployment claims, expense reporting, human resources reporting and administrative functions in within the human resources department.

Human Resources Administrator at SmartBank will be held accountable for the following:

  • Uphold SmartBank Core Values and Core Purpose.
  • Maintain the human resources information systems by updating personnel data, benefits information, new hire enrollment, position transfers, pay changes, separations of employment and any other personnel related activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provides administrative assistance to Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Maintain company wide I-9 paperwork to ensure compliance.
  • Process new hire background checks prior to employment.
  • Process new hires through e-verify to ensure new associates meet eligibility requirements.
  • Assists with the processing of new hires by notifying internal customers of any new hire start dates, equipment needs and any additional resources required for new associates to be day one ready.
  • Monitors and maintains all associates paid time off (PTO) eligibility, accrual, and use is correct and in compliance with SmartBank policies and procedures.Annually clear out any databases to ensure for accuracy and ensure any rollover is entered and meets eligibility requirements.
  • Train new associates on employee self-service portal through payroll provider to include: clocking in and out, requesting PTO, reviewing payroll checks, and editing personal information.
  • Orders flowers or gifts for associates events.
  • Maintains compliance with SmartBank policy and procedures by processing human resources department expense reports and invoicing in a timely manner.
  • Oversees benefit billing reconciliation with the payroll system to ensure enrollments are being accurately submitted and proper deductions are being taken through the payroll cycle and SmartBank is being billed accurately.
  • Work closely with the Director of HR during benefit open enrollment to ensure associates enrollment is completed timely and vendor notifications happen in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and update benefit administration system to ensure electronic data integration with benefit plans occur in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assists Director of HR with any questions and/or requests by EDD, FEHA and other governmental agencies.Answers HR related questions for teams and applicants and informs Human Resources Officer of issues needing further review (FMLA, ADA compliance, etc.).
  • Assists with all internal or external audits by providing necessary documentation and making adjustments as needed.
  • Monitors birthday and company anniversary dates to make sure there is proper recognition.
  • Assists in rollout of annual United Way campaigns.
  • Distributes holiday cards and certificates for distribution to associates.
  • Provide a “WOW” experience to candidates through the entire recruitment life cycle while maintaining a positive company image.
  • Assist HR Director with employee relations counseling, outplacement and exit interviewing as needed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Visibility required in Sevier and Knox County.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Position Requirements: High school diploma required, college degree strongly preferred. Previous experience in a human resources administration with experience in HRIS systems and benefit administration strongly preferred. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, high level of accuracy and outstanding interpersonal skills are required.  Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and human resources systems preferred.  Must be willing to travel between branches (heavy travel between Sevierville and Knoxville).
